Joining

A pupil scans the QR code with their camera, or types the link. Both lead to the same page, and the link is always shown as text as well as a code — a camera that will not focus, or a pupil who cannot see the board clearly, must never be the reason somebody is left out.

What they do

  1. Sign in

With their school account, the same way you did. This is what ties an answer to a name.

  2. Read the question

It is shown at the top of their screen, so they do not have to keep looking up.

  3. Type a word

One box, or several if you chose Several words in the Question tool.

  4. Send

The word reaches your cloud within a second. They see a confirmation, not the cloud itself.

Changing their mind

If you switched on Let a pupil replace their answer, a pupil can send again and their new word replaces the old one. Either way a pupil only ever has one answer in the cloud — sending twice never counts twice, which is what stops one enthusiastic child dominating the picture.

What pupils cannot do

Pupils do not see the word cloud, the word list, or anybody else's answers. They cannot see who else has joined. Nothing on their page lets them change the question or the settings.

This is on purpose: the cloud is a thing the class looks at together, on your screen, rather than thirty separate screens with thirty different ideas of what is happening.

Tips

Latecomers can still join at any point — the code stays on screen above the cloud.

A pupil who has answered can close the tab. Nothing is lost.
